Pärnu in Estonia – a perfect place to study wellness

Wellness and Spa Service Design and Management

Pärnu, a seaside town on Estonia’s western coast, became a resort destination already in the 19th century, known for seawater and mud therapy. Over time, its spa culture grew into a holistic experience of sea air, sunshine, physical activity, rest, massage, hydrotherapy, and cultural entertainment. People came not only to heal their bodies but also to refresh their minds.

In the 20th century, large sanatoriums treated and entertained hundreds of guests from across the Soviet Union. After Estonia regained independence, these facilities evolved into modern medical spas, offering natural mud baths, water therapy, massage, and a wide range of wellness services, attracting visitors mainly from Northern Europe. Today, spa and wellness treatments are recognised worldwide as part of integrative medicine, often recommended by doctors for therapy and prevention.

Autumn in Pärnu is calm and inspiring. The busy summer has passed, beaches are quiet, and the air carries a fresh sea breeze. It’s the perfect setting for work and study, and for our Master’s students, it’s a place to walk, talk, and explore the concept of wellness – a seemingly simple word that actually embraces health, environment, finances, relationships, and community.

Wellness is about making smart choices and taking care of ourselves. Guests expect the best, which is why the wellness and spa sector needs educated professionals. Our international Master’s programme in Wellness and Spa Service Design and Management offers the knowledge and skills to meet those expectations, combining theory, practice, and a holistic approach to well-being.

If you see your future in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries, contributing to people’s health and quality of life, this programme is for you.
