In the anniversary year of the University of Tartu Pärnu College, we will bring four disputations to the public. These draw on the tradition of academic debate while addressing contemporary issues. Each disputation explores one important topic from different perspectives and invites the audience to reflect, discuss and form their own views.
A disputation is a historical form of academic debate that played an important role in universities as part of learning and the exchange of knowledge. At its core was reasoned discussion, in which different positions were presented, argued and defended.
The disputations held during Pärnu College’s anniversary year bring this format into the present day by linking academic discussion with contemporary themes.
A total of four disputations will take place. The exact topics and programme will be announced soon.
The disputations will be held in Estonian.
