Micro-credential programme "The Journey to a Successful Tourism Economy"

The aim of the program is to provide current and future tourism workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism businesses and destinations using innovative approaches.

This is a joint microdegree program by the University of Tartu Pärnu College, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, and Klaipeda University.

Entry Requirements
To enroll in the micro-credential programme, you need a bachelor's degree or a higher education diploma and English proficiency at a B2 level.

This is a joint microdegree program by the University of Tartu Pärnu College, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, and Klaipeda University.
 

A student who completed the program:
 

  • knows the nature of design thinking and the difference from inductive and deductive thinking;
  • knows the descriptive models of the service design process and the methods applied in the stages of the service design process, including the basic methods of visualizing the service offering process (customer journey and service plan, etc);
  • understands the characteristics of sustainable tourism, including social, economic and environmental ones;
  • determines the goals, strengths and obstacles of the sustainable development of tourism;
  • identifies the key players in sustainable tourism in order to understand the role and opportunities of each party in the sustainable development of tourism;
  • understands the factors affecting competitiveness in the context of the local and international market;
  • understands the functioning of various clusters and cooperation networks and knows how to create and manage strategic partnerships;
  • prepares strategies for increasing the competitiveness of tourism business and destinations.

Enrollment for the micro-credential programme is open until August 21, 2024. To enroll, a bachelor's degree or higher education diploma and English proficiency at a B2 level are required.
